Alcometer (0-100%)
Code: KL04305Product detailed description
An alcohol meter is used to measure the alcohol content in distilled spirits or pure alcohol. It cannot be used for measuring alcohol in wines, liqueurs, etc.
- Alcohol Meter Range: 0-100%
- Reference Temperature: 20°C
Instructions for Measuring Alcohol Content:
The alcohol meter is calibrated to measure liquids at a temperature of 20°C. Pour the liquid into a measuring cylinder and use a thermometer to determine its temperature. Then, submerge the alcohol meter in the cylinder; the reading will show the percentage of alcohol. If the liquid’s temperature is different from 20°C, adjust the alcohol percentage using the temperature correction table.
Temperature Correction Table for Alcohol Meters Calibrated at 20°C
- If the liquid temperature is below 20°C, add to the alcohol percentage.
- If the liquid temperature is above 20°C, subtract from the alcohol percentage.
Measured Temperature | Alcohol Value Adjustment |
---|---|
5°C | + 5.3% |
10°C | + 3.5% |
15°C | + 1.8% |
20°C | 0% |
25°C | - 1.9% |
30°C | - 3.5% |
Examples:
-
Example 1: If the liquid temperature is 20°C and the alcohol meter reads 45%, the actual alcohol concentration is 45%.
-
Example 2: If the liquid temperature is 30°C and the alcohol meter reads 45%, subtract the adjustment value (3.5%):
– The actual alcohol concentration is 41.5%.
-
Example 3: If the liquid temperature is 5°C and the alcohol meter reads 45%, add the adjustment value (5.3%):
– The actual alcohol concentration is 50.3%.
